However, during the past couple maintenance periods we also discovered close to two hundred other issues that will need attention. A couple of the ones we discovered during the first maintenance time, we were able to fix during the second one. What this means is though we consider the monthly outage to be a great success it is inadequate to meet the maintenance needs of this district.
So in order to handle the issues that require our attention we will be scheduling another maintenance day per month.
This second maintenance day will be non-intrusive, and shouldn’t require the rebooting of any servers. So besides a minor slow down is some services and the technical staff being unavailable for general support this maintenance day should be fairly invisible to most district staff.
So just to recap the dates,
The Wednesday following the 2nd Tuesday of each month is our primary maintenance day.
This day will have interruptions of ALL network services between 4:00pm and 5:00pm
Also the Technology Staff will be unavailable for general support from 12:00pm till 5:00pm
The Last Wednesday of every month will be the non-intrusive maintenance day
There will hopefully be no outages on this day; however the Technology staff will be unavailable for general support this entire day.
