The short answer is YES! The long answer has just a bit more details. Click Read more.
If the computer or device is a permanent component of the network then we most definitely need administrative access. If we are to do any servicing of the computers at your school or building, we will need an unrestricted user account to do so. If the computer is owned by the district or any part of the district, we are responsible for its maintenance and for providing it with network access, so we need administrative access. If the computer is personal (i.e. owned by an individual), and is permanently attached to the network, for the purpose of being used for any school-related activity, or to make use of the district network regularly, then again, we require administrative access to this/these machine/s. If the computer is personal (i.e. owned by an individual), and is only temporarily on the network, such as a student's privately owned computer, or a personal laptop that a person brings to work occasionally, then we don't need an administrative account, but we still reserve the legal right to examine the computer if we deem it a liability. |
