Use these steps to locate your IP address on a Windows XP based PC.

Warning: If you do not have administrative rights to the machine you are using you may not have access to the control panel.  If you do have administrative rights but do not see the control panel in your start menu or are not sure if you have administrative rights SELECT>START>RUN and type in the run field "control panel" without the quotations and hit Enter.

Step 1:

Select START on your task bar then select Control Panel.

Your IP address will be listed at the top of the Local Area Connection Status window along with the method it was assigned.

The above machine has an IP address of 10.2.1.101 that was assigned by DHCP.

Note: START>RUN> type  "CMD"  ENTER> type  "IPCONFIG" ENTER

Is a very powerful tool if you feel comfortable with a command line.  "ipconfig /help" :)
